Journal highlights HPTLC for honey analysis

The CAMAG Bibliography Service (CBS) journal has essentially dedicated their first issue of the year to showcase the CRC’s research.

CBS is an international industry journal dedicated to HPTLC analysis. This special issue called ‘Analysis of honey by HPTLC’ highlights the years-long research of Dr Connie Locher, Tom Sostaric and Md Khairul Islam. It touches on topics such as fingerprinting for authentication, DPPH derivatisation for antioxidant testing and sugar analysis.

“HPTLC fingerprint profiling of honey extracts is a quick visual screening method that can also be used for quality control to authenticate a honey’s floral origin.”

The CRC’s HPTLC work is the main feature of the issue. This research is also heavily referenced in the last article from the same issue. The ‘Fast analysis of sugars in honey by using the HPTLC PRO System‘ article demonstrates how the previously mentioned sugar analysis could be automated. With this journal having an international reach, there is no telling how impactful this research could become.
