The aim of this project is to undertake a clinical trial to prove whether honey has pain relief and healing properties after a tonsillectomy. The significance of this clinical trial is that it will provide an opportunity to determine whether Western Australian honeys have pain relief and inflammation healing properties so that the bioactive healing properties of honey can be marketed. The expected outcome is that the results from the clinical trial will be published in a peer-reviewed journal which can be referred to by the industry. The benefit to the industry is that, if positive, this will immediately place WA honeys as a bioactive and the industry will be able to demand a higher price.
